Adrian the Runner competed in his first race as a 9 year old. Bitten by the bug after finding a sport where being the smallest wasn't a handicap he has logged in the region of 100,000km in the years since and has trained and raced all around the world. The opportunity to travel to new places and make new friends has been something that will remain even as the legs get slower.
The highlights of his racing career include a surprise 6th place in the British Universities Cross Country in 1994; a 2.18 marathon in Toronto; winning the K21 race in the Swiss Alpine meeting in Davos and not coming last in the 4km District Cross Country Championships in Nyahururu Kenya (at an altitude of 8000 feet).
Adrian the Coach has been involved in helping other athletes reach for their dreams since his university days. He is a UKA qualified coach and currently coaches a small number of individual athletes in the South West of England while also helping out with group training sessions at Wells City Harriers. He spends a significant amount of time on coach and athlete education and each season Adrian runs a number of practical training workshops and evening seminars for clubs. He has also delivered endurance training events for England Athletics.
